Who is Nicholas Billingham?
A primary school teacher has pleaded not guilty to murdering her partner after his body was found buried in a back garden in Northamptonshire, a court heard today.
Fiona Beal, 48, is accused of stabbing Nicholas Billingham, 42, between October 30 and November 10 last year.
The builder was found in the gardens of a £225,000 semi-detached property in Moor Street, Northampton’s Kingsley area, in March after four days of digging.
Billingham is missing
Billingham was on the missing persons list for nearly five months before police sniffer dogs exhumed his body after forensic officers and a specialised search team were dispatched to search the property.
Just hours before the body was found, Bill was arrested at the Cambria Hotel 200 miles away and later charged with murder.
An autopsy revealed Billingham died from a stab wound to the neck.
Bill was only speaking in court to confirm her name and her plea of not guilty at a brief hearing at Northampton Crown Court.
Billingham’s family paid tribute to their “beautiful” boy, saying they were “proud of the man he became”.

Mr Billingham was described as a “nice man” by one of his neighbours.
“We were overwhelmed by the kind words of support and comfort provided by so many beautiful people, and we know he will be missed with sadness by all of his friends, family and loved ones.
“Our hearts go out to Nick. He was a beautiful boy, we have many precious memories of his upbringing and we are very proud of the man he became.
“She just went on with his life, which is now unfortunately cut short.
“Rest in peace, Nick. Before we meet again, get a good night’s sleep and remember all the good times we had together. We will love you forever.
The couple’s neighbors said they moved into his Moore Street house in 2020.
One said: “He’s a great guy, a great guy. It’s shocking that something like this happened at the door.
Another neighbour said: “We were drinking beer outside while he was working in the house. He seemed like a nice guy.
Eastfield Academy in Northampton, where Bill worked as a sixth form teacher before being sacked just days after his arrest, said they were “shocked and shocked to learn of Mr Billingham’s death”. sad”.
“We are particularly aware of the impact this news will have on children and we will do everything we can to support students and staff through this difficult time,” the school said in a statement.
“This is a horrific tragedy that will shake the very roots of our school community, and at a time like this, we must come together, support each other and be kind to each other.”
Bill pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody ahead of a Sept. 6 pretrial hearing, with a trial date set for Sept. 12.
