Who is Kutinjima?

There is now a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the man who killed a yellow New York cab driver in Queens.

Kutin Gyimah, 52, died Saturday morning after a group of passengers tried to rob and beat him. Gyimah fell on the pavement during the attack, hitting his head on the pavement and the would-be robber fled.

“These killers must be caught and we will be offering a reward of $15,000…all funeral costs will be borne by the owners of Big Apple Taxi Fleet Management. [Gyimah] work,” said Fernando Mateo, spokesman for the New York State Workers’ Union of Taxi drivers who announced the reward Saturday afternoon.


The New York State Taxi Drivers Association is offering $15,000 for any information on the suspect who beat the taxi driver Kutin Gyimah to his death.

“This is a poor worker, how can he leave his home and not come back, it’s outrageous. We’re angry, we don’t believe it, we want justice,” Mateo said, adding that he had a relationship with the NYPD Chief Kishan Sewell spoke, “he assured us that the NYPD would find those responsible.”

A parliamentary spokesman called Gemma’s murder “not only devastating but unacceptable. … At this painful time, our deepest condolences go out to the families, friends and colleagues of the victims and will endeavour to Bring all those responsible to justice.”

Authorities said the deadly attack took place at the beach at 54th Street and Arverne Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The NYPD said Gyimah was found “with trauma to the back of the head” after officers responding to the ongoing attack found Gyimah lying on the road.

“Bad things like this happen all the time around here,” said Abdul Shahan, who has been working at the deli across from the crime scene for a decade. Gyimah was pronounced dead at St John’s Hospital.

Security footage from the deli in the block across the street shows the convicted taxi driver coming to a stop. Seconds later, three people were seen running west from the scene towards Beach Channel Drive.
