Brandon Cottom is a 30-year-old former NFL player originally from Newtown, Pennsylvania. He’ll spend the next 26 days (if he can last that long) as part of the Ratu tribe in Survivor 44.

Cottom played college football at Purdue and appeared in 38 games during his four years there. In college, he scored six touchdowns and rushed for 436 yards, an average of 5.7 yards per carry.

After graduating from Purdue, he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks in May 2015 but was waived in August of that year.

The former guard was drafted twice more by the team, but was eventually cut and left the team in 2017. He spent most of his time on the injured bench and never played in a Seahawks game.

He later joined the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League before retiring at the end of the 2019 season.

he can’t refuse to be a survivor

According to an interview, Brandon is now a security specialist for a home security company procession“I work with young kids and coach them to get faster and stronger,” he told the magazine that he is a speech coach.

According to media reports, he has long been a fan of Survivor and saw going to Fiji for the show as something he couldn’t turn down.

“We have very little chance of breaking away from civilization,” Cottom explain”By removing all the distractions of social media and everything, you don’t have the opportunity to really detach from everything and focus on yourself and who you want to be. I think ‘Survivor’ really made everyone feel that way, whether they like or not.”

He’s not the first ex-NFL guy to appear on the show

Cottom is not the first NFL alumnus to appear on the show. The first NFL player to join the show is Survivor 7’s Gary Hogeboom, who has played for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals.

Analyst Jimmy Johnson appeared on Survivor 21, while Steve Wright, Grant Mattos, Brad Culpepper, Danny McCray and Alan Ball all appeared on the show after their NFL lives.
