Thousands of Americans will receive an $850 direct payment this week, according to the fourth stimulus check update for 2022 – see if you qualify.

More than 200,000 taxpayers in Maine have already received their $850 stimulus checks.

Maine, like the rest of the country, has been hard hit by Covid-induced inflation.

Governor Janet Mills of Maine proposed returning more than half of the state budget surplus in the form of direct payments to help.

The plan was approved by state lawmakers, and the checks will be distributed in weekly installments to approximately 858,000 Mainers.

Maine residents have until October 31, 2022, to file their state tax returns for the year of 2021 and receive their refund.

Individuals earning less than $100,000 and couples earning less than $200,000 can expect to receive the direct payment later this month or early next month.

In addition, several other states, including Indiana and Delaware, have approved similar tax rebate plans.
