Police warns on fake news in Osun –

The Osun State Police Command has warned people in the state not to spread fake news ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

Yemisi Opalola, a spokesman for the command, issued a statement in Osobo on Wednesday, similarly warning against provocative content on social media.

She urged parents to ensure their children were not involved in any form of criminal activity during the election period.

“The police order warns against the spread of fake news and provocative content on social media with the intent to cause concern/panic in the state,” the statement read.

“Again, the order uses the same medium to reiterate that restrictions on vehicle/motorcycle movement will be enforced. There will be no such activity between 12:00am and 6:00pm on Election Day, except for those providing essential services.

“More order in the upcoming House elections. We assure the public that there will be adequate security before, during and after the election.”
