The Bauchi State Police Command has informed the public that, based on the results of the Interagency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) deliberations, there will be general restrictions on the movement of people and vehicles during the state election day.

The command explained that the steps taken were to ensure public order management and the safety of voters, and to assist the security agencies in their effective policing work and to deter criminals from disrupting the electoral process.

With this in mind, the Command has issued the following restrictions on the movement of people and vehicles and the movement of unauthorized vehicles on roads and other vehicles statewide from midnight Friday, March 18 until 06:00 p.m. Saturday :00 , 2023, except for essential services.

However, INEC staff, ambulances, firefighters and approved election observers with official identification are exempt from the order.

Additionally, VIP Security Aides and Escorts, VIPs and Politicians (VIPs) are likewise prohibited from bringing their security details to polling stations on Election Day.

They were therefore warned to stop unnecessary movement from one polling station to another on election day, as contained in a statement issued by PPRO Commander SP Ahmed Wakili.

As such, the rules on the unauthorized use of sirens, rotating lights, covering number plates and tinted glasses remain in effect and offenders will be subject to appropriate penalties.

At this point, agents attached to the command and other sister security agencies will be deployed to ensure full law enforcement.

However, the CP reiterated that all security assistants of VIPs and escorts are prohibited from accompanying their principals and politicians to polling stations and/or sorting centers during the election period.

State-established and owned security agencies/organizations, quasi-security units, private guards and other security agencies are also prohibited from participating in election security management.

Accordingly, anyone found willfully violating this order “directly or indirectly” will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

The command therefore urges the public to contact the Nigeria Police Force, the Joint Election Monitoring Team and the Operations Control Room at Yandoka Road State Headquarters, Bauchi through the ‘NPF Rescue Me App’ on Android and IOS or by calling the Npf Rescue Me Emergency toll-free number 08031230631 , 08151849417 or 09053872273 to report suspicious persons, activities or request a security response.
