Police killed two suspected bandits in Katsina on Thursday and seized weapons in Yasore, the state’s Batsari local government area.
State Police Command spokesman SP Gambo Isah confirmed the development to reporters. Katsinasaid bandits attacked Yahore village and fired sporadic fire with AK-47 rifles around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
A joint police and vigilante team led by Divisional Police Officer Batsari mobilized to the area, engaged in a fierce shootout with the bandits and managed to repel them, Issa said.
He added that the team found the bodies of two dead bandits, two AK-47 rifles, five magazines and 97 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

Other items found by agents included two Itel mobile phones, a string of amulets, a black bag containing N2,580, a lighter, a pen and a blue veil.
“A number of terrorists are believed to have been subdued and/or fled the scene with gunshot wounds,” Issa said.
“Search parties are still combing the nearest bush to apprehend them and/or recover their bodies.”
