Player admits referee made a decision to ensure Arsenal or Spurs didn’t win title in 2016

Arsenal and Tottenham fans will be shocked to hear what Danny Simpson has now revealed about Mark Clattenburg.

What is the ins and outs?

Well, Arsenal and Tottenham were both involved in the Premier League title race in 2015/16, with Leicester winning the title by 10 points in the final months.

Arsenal are second, while Tottenham are third.

However – when it comes to under cosh – Simpson reveals Clattenburg decided to leave Danny Drinkwater off for a game because he actually wanted Leicester to win the Premier League.

Now – if this is true – that would be a shame.

Simpson said: “I remember Clattenburg, man, wow. I think he should send someone away. He said something like, I should send you there, but I hope you win. I think Drinky (Drinkwater ).

“Man, that’s crazy. You know that’s crazy, I swear to God. Well done, no VAR.

“I had to pretend I didn’t hear. I thought to myself, yeah, we’re doing that.”

Clattenburg Supervisor Four Leicester win the 2015/16 campaign, the Foxes win three and drawing onethus earning them ten points for lifting the Premier League title.

Arsenal and Tottenham should be furious

Of course, the result has not changed now, as we find ourselves seven years from that season.

However, Simpson’s comments should irritate Arsenal and Tottenham fans – the fact that Premier League referees actively make decisions to ensure a side wins the title is remarkable.

Admittedly, Leicester City still performed well that season, and could even compete for a Champions League place, let alone win the Premier League.

Still, the title race is rife with narrow margins, and fans of Clattenburg’s apparent revision of his decision to suit Leicester, Arsenal and Tottenham should be in disbelief.
