Plateau Speaker, Sanda, majority leader lose reelection bids –

Plateau State Assembly Speaker Yakubu Sanda was unable to secure his seat in the House of Representatives after losing to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

Also, Naanlong Gapyil Daniel, the majority leader of the House of Representatives and MP representing the Mecon state constituency, who is running on the platform of the ruling APC, lost the election to Matthew Sule of the opposition PDP.

Sanda, who was seeking re-election to represent the Benghana state constituency, was defeated by a female candidate, Mrs Happiness Mathew Akawu.

Akawu received 9,933 votes, beating the state assembly speaker who received 9,672 votes in the election.
