The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the victory of Mr. Yusuf Mugu of the People’s Democratic Party in Kaduna State’s Kaola State Constituency.
Dr Yusuf Abubakar of Zaria Ahmadubello University, the Returning Officer for the state assembly election in the constituency, announced that Mugu defeated four other contestants out of a cast of 14,085.
He said Mr Afan Tandad of the Labor Party (LP) came second with 12,737 votes while Mr Sunday Nehemiah of the All Progressive Congress (APC) came third with 8,715 votes.
Mr Isaac Gandu of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) trailed by 1,121 votes, election officials said.
Abubakar explained that out of 101,275 registered voters in the local government, a total of 37,260 voters were recognized, of which 37,247 voted.
