One of the trains traveling to and from the Warri-Itakpe route derailed in a forest in Kogi state on Sunday, according to reports.
Safety sources told reporters that the train from Warri, Delta state, derailed at around 1 p.m. in a forest between Ajaokuta and Itakpe early Sunday.

Many passengers abandoned the train because they were not kidnapped by criminal gangs in the area.
The incident comes just 15 days after gunmen attacked the Igburn train station in the Igburn local government area of Edo state and held 32 passengers hostage.
