The Osun state branch of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has warned of an alleged plan by the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigerian police to crack down on its members.
This Policemen According to a statement by APC acting state chairperson Tajudeen Lawal in Osogbo on Sunday, the order seeks to replace certain DPOs with those who help the ruling party crack down on opposition members in the state.
The APC also alleges that police leadership met in Ed with the head of Gov. Sen. Ademola Adeleke (R-Governor) and decided to remove the state’s DPO and replace it with individuals able to comply with the warrant opposition figures.
“Our intelligence suggests that the idea behind the eventual plan to orchestrate the mass transfer of DPOs is to make room for some compliant and compromising police officers who might agree to any illegal arrest warrant for any member of the opposition.
“The source is that a considerable number of DPOs in office have been questioning why they should be allowed to hunt down and arrest any member of the opposition for no reason.
“Barring any change in plans, it is learned that the mass transfer of the DPO will start tomorrow (Monday) and the new compromiser has pledged allegiance and is ready to act upon any direction from the Governor or the leadership of the PDP of the state.
“We call on the IGP to call on the Osun CP to order. We likewise call on the other sister security agencies of the state to carry out their statutory duties in a neutral manner and stop any mission that may damage the image of their clothing,” part of the statement.

However, Adekunle Akindele, interim chairman of the Osun PDP, accused the state’s APC of blackmailing the PDP and the security services, making it clear that the ruling party has nothing to do with internal police activities.
He claimed the PDP had no control over the police operating code and questioned how the party managed a police force under the direction of the federal government.
“Since the APC lost the election in July, the party has become paranoid, often creating and spreading fake news.
“The opposition has plunged deeper into desperation and confusion, leading it to concoct illogical lies and confusing assumptions. What does the PDP have to do with police redeployment? Or is the APC worried that its secret assembly machines are about to be dismantled?
“Our information armored personnel carrier And its fake news operatives are Orson smarter. The APC was voted out in Osun state because it lost any credibility due to its promotion of propaganda as a major tool of state governance. Stop the blackmail because defeat in the upcoming elections awaits your candidates,” Akindele noted.
