Alobanglo, Israel

Osogbo, the capital of Osun, has been ranked as the cleanest city in Nigeria according to a report by IQAir (historical data from 2017 to 2022).

According to IQAir, in its 2022 World Air Quality Report, Olsen was ranked 404th in the list of the world’s most polluted cities based on the annual average PM2.5 concentration (µg/m3).

Nigeria ranks 18th in the list of the most polluted countries in the world, and Abuja is listed as the fourth most polluted regional city in Africa.

The report named Abuja, Lagos and Benin as the 10 most polluted cities in Africa.

According to the study, of the 131 countries sampled, only 13 had PM2.5 concentrations at or below the World Health Organization’s recommended annual limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter.

“By 2022, 13 of the 131 countries and territories covered in this report will have PM2.5 concentrations at or below the WHO guideline of 5 μg/m3 for annual PM2.5 concentrations. “

While acknowledging the significant progress made in the fight against air pollution, the study also makes clear that more must be done to promote environmental equality.
