One person killed at Jigawa APC rally –

One person was killed in bloody clashes between politicians of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Yoshikawa state, the police command confirmed.

Reports from the state revealed that the ruling APC, led by the state governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, organized a political rally in the Kazaure and Yankwashi local government areas for its governorship and Other Candidates’ Campaigns.

Confirming the incident to reporters, the state’s police chief, Mr Emmanuel Eckert, said police were tracking the suspect, who is said to have fled to neighboring Kano after committing the crime.

Mr. Emmanuel Ekot revealed, “The police have the situation; the (main) suspect has fled to Kano. This is a conflict within a political party that is loyal to a particular candidate but at odds with each other. Clash between parties”.

Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who led the APC campaign rally this time, was in Kazaure, where violent clashes between rival youth groups of APC supporters resulted in one death.

The forum gathered online that the victims were supporters of the party’s senatorial candidate for the Jigawa northwest constituency, Babangida Husseini.

Residents identified the deceased as Halliru Lafka, a resident of Kazaure town. The killing sparked protests from residents who burned down billboards for senatorial candidates, with Mr Husseini accusing him of harboring political thugs and disrupting peace in the town.

Mr Hussain could not immediately be reached for comment on the incident. When our reporter called him, his known phone number was not connected on Wednesday morning or evening.
