The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with election crimes during the House of Representatives elections held in various parts of the state last Saturday, March 18.
State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Funmi Odunlami disclosed the news in a statement, saying the suspect was arrested on Election Day.
According to her, some of the suspects were arrested in different parts of the state and some of them are currently serving in the military.
She said the crimes included ballot snatching, destruction of ballots, acts of disrupting the peace at polling stations, and other criminal activities.
“They were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of firearms, ballot box robbery, attempted murder and aggravated assault,” Odun Rami said.
“All cases related to election crimes will be consolidated and dealt with in accordance with the electoral law after the investigation is complete.
“The command is grateful to the sister agencies and the state’s law-abiding citizens for their cooperation in maintaining law and order throughout the election period.
“The command is committed to serving the people of the nation with a high degree of responsibility, professionalism and universal policing best practice.
