On Sunday, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the state’s gubernatorial election inconclusive.
The committee had earlier announced that Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had defeated his closet opponent Ladi Adebutu in the election as the winner of the election.
In a petition signed by the Secretary of State Sunday Solarin and addressed to the Governor International Electrotechnical Commission The party’s chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, accused the APC of unleashing violence against eligible voters in the state.

The petition reads: “You will recall that the Commission was aware of the extent of the villainy planned and engineered by the Statewide Progressive Congress (APC) to sow chaos at some polling places across the state in order to destabilize innocent voters from Free exercise of voting rights as a result of well planned and executed actions.
“We know that the principle of lead established by the Commission in section 24(3) is in fact influenced by population incapacity more than the presumed reflected lead between the election winner and runner-up. A rerun is therefore appropriate , to address this injustice.
“We therefore implore the committee to invoke this principle and declare it moot.”
