Microsoft has promised major changes to the way Windows manages default programs and how users pin programs to the Start menu or taskbar.
Microsoft’s new deep linking scheme in Settings allows developers to instruct users to change the default program that opens certain file types or links.
Separately, Microsoft has also started testing a new API to allow pinning primary or secondary tiles to the Windows taskbar.
