Michael Owen states who will get top 4 Tottenham or Liverpool

Michael Owen has backed Antonio Conte’s Tottenham for a top-four finish ahead of Liverpool and Newcastle United this season.

The former England striker spoke of how Tottenham and Liverpool were “at odds” but brought up the London side’s name

It appears that these three teams will be battling it out for the final Champions League spot, with Arsenal and Manchester City vying for the title, with Erik ten Haag’s Manchester United in third.

But the likes of free-scoring Brighton, though not a big name, deserve their flowers as they are nine points behind Spurs in three games.

Still, Michael Owen had this to say about Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle when it came to the top four races, As he told Premier League Productions.

“I’d be surprised if Tottenham didn’t finish fourth because of Liverpool’s inconsistency,” Owen said.

“Newcastle were inconsistent, even though they had some tough games.

“Tottenham were up and down, a bit inconsistent, a bit like Liverpool actually. But it was a good performance, even though Nottingham Forest made it easy for them.

“After Liverpool were chasing them and getting closer. They can breathe a sigh of relief now because they have a little cushion again.”

Top four for Spurs and Liverpool

For Newcastle, their long-term plans are still in their infancy, so if they miss out on fourth, their fans will be delighted with a return to Europe and building from there.

But it means a lot to Conte at Spurs and Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

While the German isn’t going anywhere, the same can be said for the Italian and his star striker Harry Kane.

However, for Liverpool, if they do not return to the Champions League next season, then fans may also worry that those big names will not come in the summer transfer window.
