Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, chairman of the Lagos State Parks Management Board, has denied threatening Igbo ahead of the state’s gubernatorial and House elections on Saturday.
On Thursday, Akinsania appeared in a widely circulated video in which he allegedly asked supporters of other political parties to rather sit at home than vote for their favorite candidate on Election Day.
The development sparked an angry reaction on social media.
However, Lagos State Police Chief Idowu Owohunwa said the command was investigating the matter.
In a new video posted on social media on Friday, Akinsanya said his statement had been taken out of context.
“In the meeting I was in yesterday (Thursday), Iya Chukwudi was like my sister, she was the one I was referring to, ‘Iya Chukwudi sit at home if you know you’re not going to vote for me,'” he said. I just saw it on social media.
“I’ve always been for peace, if you look at Lagos state, there’s peace there. Why would I say people shouldn’t come out and vote? If they don’t come out and vote, how will the All Progressive Congress get votes? How will the Igbos Not voting for APC? APC is my party, keep me out of the charge.”
