With less than 48 hours to go until gubernatorial and House elections, Kwara State Labor’s House candidate, along with a number of other party stakeholders, defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) on Thursday.
Labor Secretary of State Hon talks to reporters in Ilorin. Mohammad Ibrahim bin Laden said that in addition to the party’s gubernatorial candidate and the party’s chairman, some top executives from the party and House candidates had joined the state’s ruling APC.
Honey. Bin Laden said the decision to join the APC was due to the democratic dividends offered by Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak since he took office three-and-a-half years ago.
Labor members enjoyed significant benefits from the Kwara state government, he said, adding that promises made to state servants during the last election campaign had been fulfilled.
“This is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with our former political parties ahead of the 2019 general election. This arrangement has included timely payment of workers’ wages, implementation of minimum wages, implementation of worker promotions, and over the past four years or so, A number of projects across the State Government’s 16 local government areas are State Government priorities.
“We believe this government can still achieve more with everyone involved to ensure that this government is re-elected for the sustainability of the good legacy it has built.
“In this regard, my dear. Mohammad Ibrahim bin Laden and some of our key stakeholders and candidates have defected from the Labor Party to the APC,” he said.
