Labor is calling for the removal of polling stations where voter intimidation, violence and other electoral violations marred Saturday’s Governor-General and House of Representatives elections.
LP national chairman Julius Abure made the statement in Abuja on Saturday night.
Abure also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to order Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba to arrest police officers who helped politicians sabotage the election.
He claimed to have documented incidents of ballot box looting, voter intimidation and ballot buying in Enugu, Edo, Rivers and Lagos, among others.
The statement read: “The Labor leadership watches in horror at the ongoing rape of democracy in Nigeria under the watchful eye of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“today, International Electrotechnical Commission The results of the February 25 presidential election led by Professor Mahmood Yakubu clearly demonstrated that the inability of the Labor Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to secure the victory that Nigerians generously gave him was not a notorious “glitch” but a Elaborate conspiracies to support specific political parties and candidates.
“What’s happening across the country today is a total sham because of the level of rampant brutality, violence and voter suppression. People are being prevented from voting for the candidate of their choice, especially when they think you’re supporting the opposition.
“There have also been incidents of ballot box grabbing, voter intimidation and high levels of vote buying. These election crimes are very evident in Rivers, Lagos, Enugu, Edo, Delta and several other states.
“Clearly there is also a high level of voter apathy as people have lost faith in the electoral process. They genuinely believe that it was not worth it after what happened on February 25th, when the mandate given to LP was stolen.

“People think their votes will no longer matter. So INEC has managed to mismanage all the gains we have made in electoral reform.
“Rivers state government used state officials to harass voters. In Enugu one of our supporters was shot and the entire Enugu Northern Senate district was invaded by mobs. In Lagos APC sponsored mobs invaded our candidate A polling place where people have a large number of supporters. In Edo state, mobs had a day of freedom and unleashed the greatest violence. The whole country is in chaos, unfortunately.
“When there is violence, the security institutions look the other way. It is clear that even the security institutions are equally compromised. We are far from a true democracy. The wishes and aspirations of the people have been frustrated. What we have in Nigeria is a civilian dictatorship.
“We therefore condemn the entire process and call for the cancellation of results at polling stations that have witnessed voter intimidation and other forms of crisis.
“We also call on President Muhammadu Buhari to rein in the Inspector-General of Police, remove all police officers who compromised in today’s election, and impose appropriate sanctions.”
