Investors trade N15.6bn worth of shares, Int’l Energy, MRS lead gainers –

Investors in the Nigerian capital market traded 1.241 billion shares worth N15.668 billion in 18,560 transactions this week.

However, this was lower than the 1.286 billion shares worth 29.634 billion guilders that changed hands in 19,816 trades in the previous week.

NGX Best Performing Sectors

Financial services top the list investor 1.010 billion shares worth N5.924 billion were traded in 9,165 trades.

Conglomerates followed with shareholders transacting 46.761 million shares worth N112.918 million in 641 transactions.

Investors in the consumer sector traded 42.121 million shares worth N2.134 billion in 2,886 trades.

Veritas Kapital Assurance Plc, Sterling Bank Plc and Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc were the three most traded stocks.

Investors in the three companies traded 605.879 million shares worth 2.120 billion naira in 1,631 trades this week, according to trading data released by the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).

Thus, Veritas Kapital, Sterling Bank and GTCO accounted for 48.82% and 13.53% of the total equity transaction volume and value for the period, respectively.

Top five gainers this week

The closing price of International Energy Insurance rose N0.11kobo this week to close at N0.49kobo per share, compared with N0.38kobo per share before.

After acquiring N1.90 Cobo, the share price of MRS Oil rose from N14.10 Cobo per share to N16 per share.

NAHCO shares rose N0.90kobo to end the week at N7.90kobo, up from N7:00 per share posted last week.

Shares of Sunu Assurance Nigeria rose 12.12 percent from N0.33kobo to N0.37kobo per share.

Shares in Abbey Mortgage Bank closed the week up N0.15kobo from N1.53kobo per share to N1.68kobo per share.

Livestock feed lost N0.18 cobos, falling from N1.30 cobos per share to N1.12 cobos.

Shares in C&I Leasing fell N0.35kobo to close at N3.15kobo, from their opening price of N3.50kobo.

Shares in UPDC Plc fell by N0.10 kobos, from N1.04 kobos per share to N0.94 kobos.

Shares of Sovereign Insurance fell from N0.28kobo to N0.26 per share after falling 7.14% during trading.

Shares in International Breweries fell from N5 per share to N4.65 kobo after falling N0.35 kobo in five days.
