Abia’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned its staff against accepting bribes in the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
This INEC Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bamidele Oyetunji, head of Abia’s public affairs department, sounded the warning.
This came against the backdrop of reports that some INEC officials were collecting N500s from potential voters before issuing them cards.
Oyetunji, speaking on the issue, said the committee was not in favor of requiring public satisfaction in the course of carrying out its duties.

He said: “Our staff don’t need to search anything on the internet. All they need to do is give people their voter cards. Prospective voters are not allowed to make any payments to anyone.
“Anyone who doesn’t find a card or has a challenge should drop a note and ask them to check online for themselves. The public should report any unhealthy INEC indulgence in charging voters PVC fees.”
