INEC upbeat at Warri South, as election –

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday made improvements to the February 25 presidential election in Warri due to early dispatch of election materials.

Inspections at the INEC office on Esisi Road in the state’s Varinam Local Government Area at around 8.15am on Saturday showed a marked improvement compared to the February 25 presidential election.

INEC Deputy Director Ms Mercy Esateh, speaking on behalf of elections official Mr Kingsley Ogboe, said election items had been distributed since Friday night.

However, she added that the most sensitive material was distributed as early as 5:00 on Saturday morning

She said she was called to the INEC Warri office to assist the EO in the exercise and to change the story.

Recall that in the last presidential election, the INEC in South Warri did not start distributing materials until 4.30pm, a situation that sparked outrage among stakeholders who called for the removal of Mr Kingsley Ogboe.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) flooded streets and major roads in the local government areas of Warri, Uvwie and Okpe with armored tanks, patrol vehicles and other military equipment to curb the movement of hooligans.

Armed to the teeth soldiers and police were seen occupying strategic positions, stopping and searching vehicles violating movement restrictions.
