It’s exactly like in movies! Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter’s love story has all the makings of a Hollywood romance, including a workplace meet-cute that led to their happily ever after.
They met while filming The Big Ask in 2013 and went on to star in two more films together before getting engaged in February 2017.
During an appearance on Hollywood Today Live at the time, Lynskey stated, “Now he’s my fiancé.” “I’m announcing it,” says the speaker.
Us Weekly announced in January 2019 that the Yellowjackets star and the Parenthood alum had welcomed their first child, less than two years after their wedding. Later that month, Lynskey announced the birth of her daughter, revealing that she was born in December 2018.
“We consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to keep our news to ourselves for a while, but it appears that the story has spread, so!” In January 2019, the former star of Two and a Half Men tweeted, “Yes!” “She’s perfect; we adore her.”
“I would like to correct a couple of things that have been stated in articles online: 1) Jason was NOT in Boy Meets World and wow that would have been pretty easy to check,” she continued, jokingly clarifying a few details that had been circulating. 2) I did not greet the baby quietly; instead, I was blasting A$AP Rocky and yelling a lot.”
The couple has kept their relationship and home life relatively private since the birth of their baby girl. They have, however, used social media to make fun of each other on occasion.

In October 2021, Lynskey trolled her manafter he advertised a variety of auction items for a Huntington’s Disease Society of America fundraiser but failed to mention a prize that included a hangout with the Sweet Home Alabama actress.
“I’m a little surprised that Jason chose to focus on the fact that you can bid on amazing original artwork by @_AlexHirsch @DanaTerrace & more, and NOT on the fact that you could win a zoom with me,” Lynskey joked on Twitter. “Join me for a zoom OR get amazing original artwork, it’s up to you.”
Ritter quickly responded to his partner“Hahaha!!” he writes. I did a TikTok Live where I was very open about how big of a deal it is for an introvert to donate a zoom!”
“I love you so much, and thank you for looking after our daughter the entire time I’m doing this event tonight!!” the California native expressed his gratitude to Lynskey.
“You’re so cute,” the Candy star replied. “Somehow I missed that TikTok,” Ritter joked, “One day you’ll follow me on TikTok,” and Lynskey concluded with, “And I love you too.”
Three months later, Ritter again showed Lynskey love via Twitter, in honor of her Rolling Stone interview in which she discussed sexism in Hollywood and her hit Showtime series Yellowjackets.
In January 2022, he simply wrote while resharing the article, “I love this incredible person.”
