Who is Frank Williams?

Actor Frank Williams, best known for playing Timothy Farzing in Dad’s Army, has died at the age of 90.

The star’s death was announced in a statement on his dedicated Facebook page, which read: “It is with regret that our dear friend, colleague and actor Frank Williams passed away this morning. .”

“He is turning 91 and we are grateful for the joy, laughter and happiness he has brought to so many over the years. Thank you Frank! X’

Frank died on July 2, six days before his 91st birthday.

He played a similar role to Pastor Timothy Farthing on the BBC TV sitcom, in “You Make, M’Lord? as a cleric? Hi-de-Hi!, What’s Up Nurse, The Worker and Vanity Fair.


Born in Hampstead Heath, North London, in 1931, he attended Adingley College and Hendon School in West Sussex before starting his acting career at the Watford Palace Theatre.

It’s his part in Dad’s Army, one of Britain’s most storied sitcoms, as the Playhouse Theatre is run by the show’s creator, Jimmy Perry.

He once described his time in his father’s army as “the happiest period of his career”.

He first appeared in the show’s third season, then starred in more than half of the show, and also appeared in two feature films in Dad’s Army.

He is the second-to-last surviving actor on the show. The only one still alive is 76-year-old Ian ‘Private Pike’ Lavender.
