Yakubu Dogara, the recent speaker of the House of Representatives, lost his local government area, Bogoro, to Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate and incumbent governor of Bauchi state.
Official results released by INEC showed that the PDP and its gubernatorial candidate received a total of 16,598 votes, beating the APC, which received a total of 10,436 votes for its gubernatorial candidate.
Also, for the Bogoro state assembly constituency result, the PDP and its candidate Musa Nagwada cast a total of 13,934 votes to the APC and its candidate Bulus Iliya, a former legislative aide to Yakubu Dogara, cast a total of 12,887 votes.
As soon as the results were announced, His Excellency Markus Bitrus Lusa led hundreds of people to the residence of Professor Sulaiman E Bogoro, the former executive secretary of TETFund, to cheers, and he described the victory as is sweet.
