Volunteers will support people in one-on-one or small group settings and provide support in person, virtually or by phone.

The charity’s Hospital to Home service is a national network of local support groups, nurses and one-to-one support teams that support people and their families throughout the recovery process.

Ruth Zokas, CHSS’s Head of Volunteer Development, said: “Our Community Support Services volunteers are critical in helping us deliver services in our local communities and directly helping people living with chest, heart and stroke conditions to live fulfilling lives.

“People often leave the hospital feeling scared and alone, by giving you the gift of time, you will help people when they need it most. You will support people in your local community to do more than just survive and truly live .

“This is a very rewarding volunteering opportunity where you can meet new people, learn new skills and make a difference in the lives of local people.

“We will provide you with all the necessary training and support you in your volunteering role.”
