Following much fan speculation about who would be fired from the M/Y Thalassa crew during the first season of Below Deck Down Under, many viewers were surprised to learn that two stars were let go during the charter season.

On the show, Captain Jason Chambers fired third stew Magda Ziomek and Chef Ryan McKeown back-to-back, and their replacements arrived on the June 2 episode.

Chef Nate Post faced an uphill battle because he had to cook for the guests just a few hours after his arrival. While the new third stew, Taylor Dennison, fit right in with the interior crew (except for a plate clearing mishap during a dinner service), Chef Nate Post faced an uphill battle.

Fans are waiting to see how the new chef performs on the superyacht, but many believe he will get along with his fellow crew members better than Ryan did.

Chef Ryan had about five years of yachting experience prior to his appearance on Below Deck Down Under, but his frequent feuds with Chief Stew Aesha Scott and Captain Jason, as well as a few guest complaints, sealed his fate on the boat.

Chef Nate, Ryan’s replacement, has even more industry experience, as viewers discovered on the June 2 episode.

While this is Nate’s first time working on a Below Deck show, he has previously appeared on television. Nate appeared as a contestant on Millionaire Hot Seat (an Australian spin-off of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? ), an Australian trivia game show, in 2020.

Chef Nate was new to the boat and crew, but he quickly became friends with Captain Jason. Both the chef and the captain are natives of Wagga Wagga, a small town in the Australian state of New South Wales.
