Buhari to visit Senegal for international confab on agriculture –

President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to Senegal from Lagos on Tuesday to attend the second Dakar International Agricultural Conference.

The summit was chaired by President Macky Sall of Senegal and the Chairman of the African Union (AU) under the theme “Feeding Africa: Food Sovereignty and Resilience”.

The Presidential Spokesperson issued a statement, Femi AdesinaThe meeting was jointly organized by the Senegalese government and the African Development Bank (AfDB), it said on Monday.

The summit aims to create favorable conditions for achieving food security in Africa.

It will also hold meetings that will build on the African countries’ agreement on food and agricultural deliveries.

Given the proportion of hungry people in Africa, the summit will be attended by African Heads of State and Government, Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, as well as a number of global development partners, focusing on the commitment to eradicate hunger on the continent by 2030.

The presidential delegation comprised ministers and senior government officials, including Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Dr Mohammad Mahmoud Abubakar, National Security Adviser Mohammad Babagana Monguno and National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

According to the statement, President Buhari is expected to return to the country on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
