Austin Butler joins Kaia Gerber at Lisa Marie Presley Memorial
Austin Butler, who plays Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic, attended Lisa Marie Presley on Sunday at the Public memorial service at Graceland.
The actor and his girlfriend Kaia Gerber sat directly behind the Presleys, while stars like Alanis Morrissette and Axl Rose paid tribute to Elvis’ only daughter .
Butler, 31, wore a black jacket with matching pants and boots, while Gerber, 21, completed her bachelor look in a similarly moody ensemble.
They have been dating since January 2022, when Gerber and “Euphoria” star Jacob Elodi broke up aloud.
An eyewitness told Page Six that Luhrmann and his wife, Elvis Presley costume designer Catherine Martin, also attended the funeral. At one point the 60-year-old Australian film director is said to have approached Butler and hugged him.
As previously reported, Lisa Marie died on January 12 at the age of 54.
Butler was giving E! news at the time, related to the singer’s daughter and mother.
“I am eternally grateful that I was privileged to be close to her bright light and will always cherish the quiet moments we shared. Her warmth, love and sincerity will always be remembered.”
The tribute comes just days after Butler won the 2023 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of the late King of Rock and Roll.
In his acceptance speech, Butler thanked Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley for opening up to him, “memories” and “home” in preparation for the role.
“Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,” he added.
Sunday’s commemoration also included tributes to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, talent manager Jerry Schilling and Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley, 33.
The actress’ husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, took to the podium to read a note on Riley’s behalf – revealing they quietly greeted Lisa Marie before her death their daughter.
“Thank you for letting me know that love is the only thing that matters in life. I wish I could love my daughter as you love me, as you love my brothers and sisters.
“Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper, my wildness, my tenacity. I am a product of your heart, My sisters are from your heart, my brothers are from your heart.”
Page Six also reported on Sunday that Lisa Marie was buried in Graceland Meditation Gardens next to her beloved son Benjamin, who committed suicide in 2020.
Elvis and his parents, Vernon and Gladys Presley, are also buried in the gardens of their Memphis, Tennessee estate.
In addition to Riley, Lisa Marie is survived by two other children: 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper Lockwood.
