Unidentified thieves have reportedly broken into the newly commissioned hospital in Peru in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State and stole some equipment worth millions of naira.
Ripples Nigeria has learned that the incident occurred a month after the hospital opened.
country commander Amotkun Police officer David Akinremi, who confirmed the incident to reporters on Friday, said the suspects stole six 43-inch Hisense televisions and other equipment worth 3 million naira.
The prime suspect, Ogunjembola Kehinde, who has been arrested by police, led his gang in the burglary of the hospital, Akinremy said.
He said: “Based on actionable intelligence, the prime suspect was arrested and following interrogation he admitted that he had committed the alleged crime with another person who is currently at large. All items stolen from Receiver Lawal Aliu.

“While the investigation into the original complaint is still ongoing, intelligence received has further indicated that the same prime suspect in this case, Ogunjembola Kehinde, and his criminal gang have sabotaged and stolen a number of electronic Equipment, Iperu.
“When the suspect was confronted about it, he also admitted that he committed the crime together with his accomplices in the original burglary reported by Banjoko Kehinde.
“So far, three suspects have been arrested in connection with this case, while efforts are underway to apprehend the other criminal recipients mentioned by the suspects in order to recover items allegedly sold to them.”
