A man appeared to storm the stage during a moment of silence commemorating the Uvalde, Texas school shooting, turning the anti-gun rally into chaos.
During the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, DC, the man allegedly threw an object into the crowd and screamed “I am the gun” before being apprehended.
People were seen running away or cowering on the floor.
“Do not run,” said one speaker, Erica Ford of the New York City Crisis Management System, according to WUSA.
Later, speakers on stage assured the crowd that the man was unarmed and that they were not in danger.
The incident happened on the National Mall.
Park Police identified the man as a pro-gun demonstrator and confirmed that no weapons had been discovered.
